1- Salt Water Gargles for Sore Throat Treatment
Mix a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Take a sip of the mixture and gargle for a minute. This remedy is effective sore throat treatment and it dissolves phlegm. But do not overdo it (not more than 3x a day), because the salt water would then cause irritation that would dry out your mucous membranes.
2- Honey for Sore Throat
Honey contains different substances that are beneficial for health. It has an antibacterial and anti-fungal effect: ideal if you have a sore throat or a cold. Honey also deposits a protective layer in your throat, which prevents irritation. A teaspoon of honey is therefore an excellent home remedy against sore throat.
3- Lemon Drink for Sore Throat
A hot drink has a softening effect and therefore has a positive impact on a painful throat. Add a spoon of honey, the juice of a lemon and a little cinnamon powder for the taste, and for the anti-inflammatory effect. You will get a healthy, tasty and beneficial drink, which will quickly relieve your sore throat.
4- Cayenne pepper
Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, an analgesic and anti-inflammatory substance. Put some cayenne pepper in your bowl of soup. The heat of the soup will work very well against sore throat, along with the analgesic effect of cayenne pepper.
5- Steam Inhalation
Steam inhalation has a relaxing and softening effect on the throat. It hydrates the airways and removes the irritation.
Just fill a bowl of hot water (just below boiling point) and keep it on your lap or on a small table between your legs. Then put a towel on your head and lean over the bowl of steaming water. You will fully enjoy the softening effect of steam. Inhale Steam for 15 to 20 minutes. You can repeat the operation several times a day.
6- Marshmallow Root Infusion
In the middle ages, Marshmallow plant was used to cure sore throats. The roots of Marshmallow plant contained gelatin- like substance known as Mucilage is use to lubricates the throat.
Take 1 ounce marshmallow roots and tie up in a cheesecloth or in Herbs Infuser than dip this bundle in 1 liter cold water in infuser bottle and tie other end of bundle on bottle lip. Leave it for whole night than remove bundle in morning. Drink this infusion whole day.
7- Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a natural health tonic that had been used since ages to cure various health issues. Acetic Acid in Apple cider vinegar helps fight bacteria.
To help relieve throat pain, drink 1 cup of warm water mixed with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and an optional tablespoon of honey.
8- Licorice Root
Licorice root has been used in traditional medicine to treat various disorders. It has same properties that of asprin which allow it reduce throat pain.
You can also make your own to drink or gargle. Combine ground licorice root with hot water, let it steep for five minutes, then strain it prior to drinking
9- Sore throat remedy: Turmeric and water
Turmeric is one of spices that has a powerful antioxidant properties and scientists think it has the strength to fight many serious diseases. In order to treat sore throat, mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into 1 cup of hot water and gargle. An added bonus? Turmeric is a natural antidepressant without any side effects!
